Questions people ask before their first envelope.
Are signatures from Sign IT legally binding?
In most jurisdictions, yes. Electronic signatures are recognised under the US ESIGN Act and UETA, the EU's eIDAS regulation, and Australia's Electronic Transactions Act. Sign IT captures the three things those frameworks care about: the signer's intent, their explicit consent to sign electronically, and a tamper-evident record linking the signature to the document. Some document types — wills, certain property instruments — still require wet ink, so check local rules for those.
Do my signers need to create an account?
No. Each signer receives a private link that opens the document straight in their browser. They draw or type a signature, complete their fields, and they're done.
What happens when everyone has signed?
Sign IT flattens every field into the PDF, stamps an envelope ID on each page, and appends a certificate of completion listing every event in the audit trail. Everyone on the envelope gets a link to download that sealed copy.
Can I change a document after sending it?
No — and that's deliberate. Once an envelope is sent, its content and fields are locked so the audit trail stays honest. If something's wrong, void the envelope and send a corrected one.
What file types can I upload?
PDFs up to 20 MB. Most word processors export a PDF in a single step, and exporting first means what you see is exactly what your signer sees.
